Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Steve Jobs, Birds of Prey, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Ocean’s 8) has composed the original music for the upcoming Netflix documentary Rising Phoenix. The film is directed by Ian Bonhote & Peter Ettedgui (McQueen) and tells the extraordinary story of the Paralympic Games, from the rubble of World War II to the third biggest sporting event on the planet. The movie follows a group of elite athletes and insiders, including Bebe Vio (Italy), Ellie Cole (Australia), Jean-Baptiste Alaize (France), Matt Stutzman (USA), Jonnie Peacock (UK), Cui Zhe (China), Ryley Batt (Australia), Ntando Mahlangu (South Africa) and Tatyana McFadden (USA), as they reflect on the Paralympic Games and examine how they impact a global understanding of disability, diversity and excellence. Rising Phoenix will premiere on August 26, 2020 on Netflix.
Pemberton’s other upcoming projects also include Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 (to debut on October 16, 2020 on Netflix) and Legenday Pictures’ Enola Holmes (premiering next month on Netflix).
