Composer Keegan DeWitt (Gemini, Divorce, Her Smell, Sorry for Your Loss) is reteaming with director Brett Haley on the upcoming Netflix original film Sorta Like a Rockstar. The movie stars Auli’i Cravalho, Carol Burnett, Fred Armisen, Rhenzy Feliz, Justina Machado, Judy Reyes, Gerald Isaac Waters, Taylor Richardson and Anthony Jacques. The drama is based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Quick (Silver Lining’s Playbook) novel by the same name and follows a teenage girl who, despite her difficult circumstances, is preternaturally optimistic about the world and her place in it, until she faces a devastating loss and can no longer ignore the challenges in her own life. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (The Spiderwick Chronicles) and Lee Stollman (The Maze Runner, Stargirl) are producing the project for Gotham Group, alongside Marty Bowen (The Fault in Our Stars) & Isaac Klausner (First Man, Love, Simon) for Temple Hill Entertainment. DeWitt has previously composed the music for Haley’s last four features, I’ll See You in My Dreams, The Hero, Hearts Beat Loud and this year’s All the Bright Places. Sorta Like a Rockstar will premiere later this year on Netflix.
DeWitt’s other recent feature projects include Chad Hartigan’s Little Fish, which was originally set to premiere last month at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival, as well as Peter Sattler’s Broken Diamonds.
