Anton Sanko (Rabbit Hole, Big Love, The Possession, Ouija, The Seagull) has recently scored the upcoming Netflix original film The Half of It. The movie is written and directed by Alice Wu and stars Leah Lewis, Daniel Diemer, Collin Chou and Alexxis Lemire. The romantic comedy drama revolves around a shy, introverted, Chinese-American, straight-A student who finds herself helping the school jock woo the girl they both secretly love. Wu is also producing the project with Anthony Bregman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Foxcatcher, Sing Street) and M. Blair Brear (Baskets, Louie). Sanko has previously scored Wu’s previous feature Saving Face. The Half of It will premiere on May 1, 2020 exclusively on Netflix.
Sanko also continues to score Freeform’s Siren, which just had its third season premiere last week. The composer also has David Blech’s documentary The Blech Effect coming up. He is also scoring the indie thriller The Boy Behind the Door written and directed by David Charbonier & Justin Powell and stars Lonnie Chavis, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Scott Michael Foster, Micah Hauptman and Ezra Dewey. The movie follows a young boy who is kidnapped alongside his best friend on their way to Little League practice and must rescue his friend and find a way out before they become the latest victims in a collection of lost children. Rick Rosenthal (Standing Up, Falling Down, Band of Robbers) is producing the project for Whitewater Films, alongside of Ryan Scaringe of Kinogo Pictures, as well as Jim Hart, John Hermann and Ryan Lewis. The thriller is expected to premiere later this year.
