The Hollywood Bowl has announced this summer’s season schedule, which includes a number of film music concerts. On June 27, the Bowl will host a live to projection concert for Nicholas Hooper‘s score for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Justin Freer will conduct the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. On July 30, John Williams and violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter will perform the Los Angeles Philharmonic for a special program of music from their album Across the Stars, featuring re-imagined versions of Williams’ themes from Star Wars, Sabrina, Far and Away, Harry Potter, and many more (click here for more details).Williams himself will also return to the Bowl on September 4, 5 & 6 for the concert Maestro of the Movies. The composer himself, as well as David Newman will conduct some of Williams’ greatest hits performed by the LA Philharmonic. Iconic Looney Tunes moments and brand-new cartoons play on the big screens while the Los Angeles Philharmonic (conducted by George Daugherty) plays the original scores live (click here for more details). On August 20, Amadeus – Live in Concert will make its debut on the bowl. Brett Mitchell will conduct the Los Angeles Philharmonic for a performance of Mozart’s celebrated works as the Academy Award-winning 1984 movie directed by Milos Forman plays on the big screen (click here for more information). Finally, on September 13, David Newman will conduct the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra for a performance of Mark Knopfler’s entire musical score for Rob Reiner’s The Princess Bride live-to-picture (click here for more details).
