Academy Awards show producers Lynette Howell Taylor and Stephanie Allain announced today that Cynthia Erivo will be performing the original song Stand Up from Harriet, which she co-wrote with Joshuah Brian Campbell, at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony. Elton John will perform (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again (co-written by the singer/songwriter and Bernie Taupin) from Rocketman, Idina Menzel will perform the Kristen Anderson-Lopez -& Robert Lopez-penned song Into the Unknown from Frozen II, Chrissy Metz will perform the Diane Warren-written song I’m Standing with You from Breakthrough and Oscar winner Randy Newman will perform his song I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away from Pixar’s Toy Story 4. In addition to the five nominated song performances, the show will feature a special appearance by Questlove and a guest-conducted segment by Eímear Noone. The Oscars will air live Sunday, February 9, on ABC.
