Dustin O’Halloran and Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) have been hired to score the upcoming British drama Ammonite. The film is written and directed by Francis Lee and stars Kate Winslet, Saoirse Ronan, James McArdle, Alec Secareanu and Fiona Shaw. The movie is set in 1840s England and centers on an infamous fossil hunter and a young woman who are sent to convalesce by the sea and develop an intense relationship, altering both of their lives forever. Iain Canning & Emile Sherman (The King’s Speech, Widows) and Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly (Lady Macbeth) are producing the See-Saw Films production. O’Halloran has previously scored Lee’s previous feature God’s Own Country as part of A Winged Victory for the Sullen. Ammonite is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere in 2020.
O’Halloran & Bertelmann have previously co-scored See-Saw Films Lion, for which they received their first Academy Award nomination, as well as this year’s The Art of Racing in the Rain and the upcoming FX/BBC mini-series A Christmas Carol (premiering in the U.S. on December 19). They also have the Netflix movie The Old Guard starring Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne & Chiwetel Ejiofor coming up.
