academyThe Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 928 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures to join the organization. Among the invited artists this year are a number of film composers, including Ludwig Goransson (Creed, Venom) who received the Academy Award for Black Panther this year, Michael Abels (Get OutUs), Rupert Gregson-Williams (Wonder Woman, Aquaman), Nathan Barr (The House with a Clock in Its Walls, Hostel), Kris Bowers (Green Book, Monsters and Men), Hildur Gudnadottir  (Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Mary Magdalene), Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Minions), Jed Kurzel (Alien Covenant, Macbeth), John Swihart (Napoleon Dynamite, Table 19), Anne Nikitin (American Animals, The Imposter),  Jane Antonia Cornish (Fireflies in the Garden, Citizen Jane: Battle for the City) and Annette Focks (Ostwind, Krabat).

Also invited were songwriters Lady GagaMark RonsonAndrew Wyatt (A Star Is Born), Adele (Skyfall), Annie Lennox (The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King), Scott Wittman (Mary Poppins Returns), Roxanne Seeman (Little Monsters), Amir Khalib “Questlove” Thompson (Detroit), Ester DeanCarlinhos Brown (Rio) and Carlton Douglas “Chuck D” Ridehour (Do the Right Thing), as well as music editors Missy Cohen (The Inform, John Finklea (Vice), Richard Ford (Hidden Figures), Bryan Lawson (Suicide Squad), Peter Myles (Pacific Rim), Arthur Pingrey (Racing Extinction), Jason Ruder (A Star Is Born), Sherry Whitfield (The Zookeeper’s Wife) and Robin Whittaker (The House with a Clock in Its Walls).
