John Swihart (How I Met Your Mother, Napoleon Dynamite, Youth in Revolt, Table 19) has recently scored the upcoming thriller The Fanatic. The film is directed by Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst (The Longshots, The Education of Charlie Banks) and stars John Travolta and Devon Sawa. The movie is inspired by Durst’s own life and follows a rabid movie fan obsessed with his favorite celebrity action hero whose fixation turns from stalking to ambition of destroying the star’s life. Durst also co-wrote the screenplay with Dave Bekerman. Andrea Iervolino & Monika Bacardi (Finding Steve McQueen, To the Bone) are producing the project for Ambi Media Group, alongside Oscar Generale (Speed Kills) and Daniel Grodnik (Powder, Who Is Cletis Tout?) for Wonderfilm Media. The Fanatic is expected to be released later this year.

Swihart is also reteaming with director Greg Coolidge on the upcoming comedy The Turkey Bowl starring Alan Ritchson, Ryan Hansen, Matt Jones and Kristen Hager. The movie centers on a 30-year old man who is tricked into returning to his rural hometown by his high school friends to finally finish The Turkey Bowl – an epic football game against their cross-town rivals that was snowed out fifteen years earlier on Thanksgiving. Swihart has previously scored Coolidge’s first feature, Employee of the Month. No release date has been announced yet for The Turkey Bowl.
