Clint Mansell (Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, Noah, The Fountain, Moon) confirmed in a recent interview with The 405 that he will reteam with director Ben Wheatley on the upcoming gothic thriller Rebecca. The film, which has Lily James & Armie Hammer attached to star, is based on Daphne du Maurier’s classic gothic novel and follows a newly-married young woman who, on arriving at her husband’s imposing family estate on a bleak English coast, finds herself battling the shadow of his dead first wife. Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class) wrote the screenplay. Eric Fellner & Tim Bevan (Atonement, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) are producing the Working Title production with Nira Park (Baby Driver, Attack the Block). Mansell has previously collaborated with Wheatley on the features High-Rise and Happy New Year, Colin Burstead. Rebecca is set to shoot later this year and is expected to premiere in 2020 on Netflix.
As previously reported, Mansell also has Agata Alexander’s sci-fi thriller Warning coming up. His other recent projects include the DC Universe series Doom Patrol and Titans, as well as Carol Morley’s drama Out of Blue, which was just released in the U.S. last month.
