The only movie opening nationwide this week is Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck and starring Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Mckenna Grace, Annette Bening, Clark Gregg and Jude Law. The film’s original music is composed by Pinar Toprak (KryptonThe AngelFornite). Marvel Music & Hollywood Records have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Opening in limited release is the drama Gloria Bell written and directed by Sebastian Lelio and starring Julianne Moore, John Turturro, Michael Cera, Caren Pistorius, Brad Garrett, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Rita Wilson, Sean Astin and Holland Taylor. Matthew Herbert (Disobedience, A Fantastic WomanLife in a Day) has composed the film’s original music. Also opening in limited release is the western The Kid co-written and directed by Vincent D’Onofrio and starring Ethan Hawke, Dane DeHaan, Jake Schur, Chris Pratt, Leila George and Adam Baldwin. The film’s original music is composed and performed by Shelby GainesLatham Gaines. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a young boy who is forced to go on the run across the American Southwest in a desperate attempt to save his sister from his villainous uncle, is being released by Lionsgate.

Also opening in select theaters is the indie drama I’m Not Here co-written and directed by Michelle Schumacher and starring J.K. Simmons, Sebastian Stan, Max Greenfield, Maika Monroe, Mandy Moore and Iain Armitage. Nima Fakhrara (The Signal, The Pyramid, The Girl in the Photographs) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which centers around a man who struggles with the tragic memories of his past to make sense of his present, is being released by Gravitas Ventures.

Already playing in select theaters since Wednesday is the Netflix original movie Triple Frontier directed by J.C. Chandor and starring Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund and Pedro Pascal. The film’s original music is composed by Disasterpeace (aka Rich Vreeland) (It FollowsUnder the Silver Lake). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score.
