Cristobal Tapia de Veer (Utopia, The Girl with All the Gifts, National Treasure, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) has been hired to score the upcoming supernatural horror thriller Grudge. The film is written and directed by Nicolas Pesce (Piercing, The Eyes of My Mother) and stars John Cho, Demián Bichir, Jacki Weaver, Betty Gilpin, Lin Shaye and Andrea Riseborough. The movie is a reboot of 2004’s The Grudge (scored by Christopher Young), which was based on the Japanese horror feature Ju-on: The Grudge and revolves around a house that is haunted by a vengeful ghost that curses those who enter it…with a violent death. Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Oz: The Great and Powerful) and Rob Tapert (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe, Spartacus) are producing the Ghost House and Good Universe production. Grudge is set to be released on June 21, 2019 by Sony Pictures.
