Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beasts of No Nation, Easy) is composing the original music for the upcoming drama Skin. The film is written and directed by Guy Nattiv (The Flood, Strangers) and stars Jamie Bell, Vera Farmiga, Danielle Macdonald, Mike Colter and Bill Camp. The movie tells the true life story of Bryon Widner, a young man raised by skinheads, for whom turning his back on hatred and violence meant undergoing painful and expensive operations to remove the tattoos that signified his terrible past life. Nattiv is also producing the project with Oren Moverman (The Messenger, Rampart), actress Jaime Ray Newman, Celine Rattray (The Kids Are All Right, Bernie), Dillon D. Jordan, as well as Trudie Styler. Romer has previously scored Styler’s directorial debut, Freak Show. Skin will premiere next month at the 2018 Toronto Film Festival.
Romer’s upcoming projects also include Cary Fukunaga’s Netflix series Maniac starring Emma Stone & Jonah Hill (set to premiere on September 21). He is also returning to score the second seasons of ABC’s The Good Doctor and Netflix’s Atypical, both of which will debut next month.
