Christopher Lennertz has signed on to score the upcoming Amazon original series The Boys. The superhero drama is developed by Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg based on the comic series created by Darick Robertson (Happy) and Garth Ennis (Preacher) and stars Jack Quaid, Karl Urban, Laz Alonso, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher, Nathan Mitchell and Erin Moriarity. The show revolves around a superpowered CIA squad who closely monitor the superhero community as their celebrity status has corrupted them and led them to engage in reckless behavior compromising the world. Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) is directing the first episode. Kripke, Rogen & Goldberg (This Is the End, Preacher) are also executive producing the Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television production with James Weaver (Neighbors, Blockers), Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious series, 21/22 Jump Street), Ori Marmur (Passengers) and Ken Levin. Lennertz has previously collaborated with Kripke on the CW’s Supernatural and NBC’s Revolution. He also co-scored the Rogen- & -Goldberg-produced feature Sausage Party with Alan Menken. The Boys is set to premiere in 2019 on Amazon.
Lennertz will also return to score the second season of Netflix’s Lost in Space (expected to premiere next year) and the fourteenth season of the CW’s Supernatural (premiering this fall). The composer’s upcoming feature projects include Tim Story’s Shaft sequel, Kelly Asbury’s animated movie UglyDolls, Brian Henson’s The Happytime Murders and Tim Hill’s The War with Grandpa.
