David Lawrence (American Pie, High School Musical, Descendants) has composed the original score for the upcoming Disney Channel original movie Freaky Friday. The film is directed by Steve Carr (Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Daddy Day Care) and stars Cozi Zuehlsdorff, Heidi Blickenstaff, Alex Désert, Jason Maybaum, Kahyun Kim, Dara Reneé, Jennifer Laporte, Isaiah Lehtinen and Sarah Willey. The comedy is based on the Disney Theatrical Production stage adaptation of the novel by Mary Rodgers about a mother and daughter who spend a day in each other’s shoes. Bridget Carpenter (11.22.63, Friday Night Lights) wrote the script based on her work for the stage version. Thomas Schumacher, Carr and Susan Cartsonis (What Women Want, The DUFF) are executive producing the project. Eight songs from the stage production, as well as two new songs, including one co-written by Cozi Zuehlsdorff, will be featured in the new movie. A soundtrack album is set to be released on August 10, 2018 by Walt Disney Records (click here to pre-order the album). Freaky Friday will premiere on August 10 on the Disney Channel.
