Arthur B. Rubinstein has passed away yesterday, April 23, at age 80. The composer is best known for his work on numerous films directed by John Badham, including the 1983 classic WarGames, 1983’s Blue Thunder starring Roy Scheider, 1987’s StakeOut starring Richard Dreyfuss & Emilio Estevez and its 1993 sequel, 1991’s The Hard Way starring Michael J. Fox and 1995’s Nick of Time starring Johnny Depp, among other titles. Rubinstein’s other scoring credits include Roger Spottiswoode’s 1986 feature The Best of Times starring Robin Williams, Albert Brooks’ 1985 comedy Lost in America and William Friedkin’s 1983 film Deal of the Century, as well as numerous episodes of TV series and television movies. He was honored with an Emmy Award for his work on the TV show Scarecrow and Mrs. King in 1986.
