Christopher Gordon has recently composed the music for the upcoming Australian drama Ladies in Black. The film is directed by Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy, Double Jeopardy) and stars Angourie Rice, Rachael Taylor, Julia Ormond, Alison McGirr, Vincent Perez, Ryan Corr, Susie Porter, Shane Jacobson and Noni Hazlehurst. The movie based on Madeleine St John’s novel The Women in Black is set in 1959 and tells the coming-of-age story of a suburban schoolgirl, who, while waiting for her final high school exam results, takes a summer job at a large department store. Beresford also co-wrote the screenplay with Sue Milliken (Sirens, Black Robe) who is producing the project with Allanah Zitserman. Gordon (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Daybreakers, On the Beach, Adore) has previously scored Beresford’s Sydney: A Story of a City and the 2009 feature Mao’s Last Dancer. Ladies in Black is is set to be released this fall in Australia.
