Rupert Gregson-Williams has been hired to score the upcoming comic book movie Aquaman. The film is directed by James Wan (Furious 7, The Conjuring, Insidious, Saw) and stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Ludi Lin, Dolph Lundgren, Temuera Morrison, Michael Beach and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The movie is based on the DC Comics character who learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, born half-human as Arthur Curry and half-Atlantean. Peter Safran (The Conjuring, Annabelle) is producing the project. Gregson-Williams has previously scored DC’s Wonder Woman for the studio. Aquaman is set to be released on December 21, 2018 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Gregson-Williams also has the comedy The Happytime Murders starring Melissa McCarthy and the thriller Terminal starring Margot Robbie coming up. He is also expected to return to score the third season of Netflix’s The Crown. His other recent projects include TNT’s The Alienist, which currently airs every Monday night.

  1. Penderghast says:

I liked his Hacksaw Ridge, but Wonder Woman and Tarzan were both incredibly bland, so I have almost zero faith in his adventure-writing abilities. Still, I’m glad better composers are staying away from this sunking DC ship.

  2. Critic says:

    ?

  3. Brent says:

What is with all this hate? I actually rather liked the Wonder Woman score (his Tarzan score was regrettable). Wonder Woman, with the exception of Black Panther and Ragnarok, has been better and more inspired than most recent Marvel scores IMO.

    • Tom de Ruiter says:

I agree with you. Since 2017 Superhero scores are really really good. Wonder Woman was the first superhero scores that for me was good on action & emotional depth!!!

  4. Justin says:

I think a color-washed-out bland CGI-ridden Aquaman film gets exactly the kind of score it deserves.

    • Ribald says:

You haven’t even seen anything in the movie and you are saying it’s colour washed? Are you retarded or 12 year old or both?

  5. Tor says:

Better than the music (he said, sarcastically) from Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice, but think of what, for instance, Mark Isham (the Family theme from Wan’s The Conjuring) could’ve done.

Hundreds of composers out there and people only hire the same dozen guys. Astounding.

  6. josimar says:

Wonder Woman did have some fantastic moments, mostly at the beginning (Amazons of Themyscira) and the end (Trafalgar Celebration), so, I guess Ruper was a good choice here.

  7. Brent says:

    Sunking huh, Penderghast? Ok, haha!

Rupert is a good choice, his Wonder Woman score was good. Though I was expecting and excited about a Joseph (Wan’s usual film composer) Bishara Aquaman score.

  8. BB says:

    Should be Danny Elfman

  9. TinTin says:

Lol “sunking ship”. Bitch please, get your spelling correct first before opening your trash.

Also this one dude says AQUAMAN is colour-washed,bland. Bitch where? Have you even seen the trailer or anything? But you gotta open your dumbass mouth huh? Fuck off

  10. Mati says:

Aquaman is gonna take it all. The film needs 90% good score from this guy at worst scenario if not 99%.
