Jeremy Turner has recently composed the original score for the upcoming indie comedy Family. The film is written and directed by Laura Steinel and stars Taylor Schilling, Bryn Vale, Brian Tyree Henry, Jessie Ennis, Blair Beeken, Matt Walsh, Allison Tolman, Eric Edelstein, Kate McKinnon and Fabrizio Guido. The movie revolves around an emotionally stunted 30-year-old woman who is tasked with watching her awkward and bullied 12-year-old niece for the week and finds her life unfurling when the girl runs away to be a juggalo. Sue Naegle (Outcast, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs) and Kit Giordano are producing the project. Family will premiere next month at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival.

Turner whose previous scoring credits include Netflix’s Five Came Back (for which he received his first Emmy Award nomination), last year’s documentary Trophy and 2013 A Birder’s Guide to Everything also has the comedy Ode to Joy directed by Jason Winer (Modern Family, Life in Pieces), written by Max Werner (Fun Size) and starring Melissa Rauch, Morena Baccarin, Martin Freeman, Jake Lacy and Shannon Woodward coming up. No word yet on a premier date for the movie.
