Nicholas Britell is reuniting with Adam McKay on the upcoming biographical drama Backseat. The film is written and directed by McKay and stars Christian Bale as Dick Cheney, alongside Amy Adams, Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell, Bill Pullman, Adam Bartley, Tyler Perry, Alison Pill and Lily Rabe. The movie chronicles Cheney’s rise to CEO of the multinational corporation Halliburton and finally becoming what some have called the most powerful U.S. vice president ever to hold office. McKay is also producing the project with Will Ferrell & Kevin Messick (Daddy’s Home) for Gary Sanchez and Brad Pitt & Dede Gardner (12 Years a Slave, Selma, World War Z) for Plan B. Backseat is expected to be released in the fall of 2018 by Annapurna Pictures.
As previously reported, Britell who has previously scored McKay’s The Big Short also has the director’s HBO series Succession coming up. The composer’s upcoming projects also include Gary Ross’ Ocean’s Eight starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett & Anne Hathaway.
