Murray Gold has been tapped to score the upcoming BBC mini-series A Very English Scandal. The 3-parter is directed by Stephen Frears (The Queen, Philomena, Dangerous Liaisons, High Fidelity) and stars Hugh Grant, Ben Whishaw, Alex Jennings, Patricia Hodge, Monica Dolan, Adrian Scarborough, Jason Watkins, Eve Myles, Michele Dotrice and Blake Harrison. The drama tells the story of British politician Jeremy Thorpe who was accused of murdering his ex-lover and was forced to stand trial in 1979. Russell T. Davies who previously collaborated with Gold on such shows as Doctor Who and Torchwood wrote the script. Graham Broadbent & Pete Czernin (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, In Bruges) and Dominic Treadwell-Collins (EastEnders) are executive producing the project for Blueprint Television, alongside Lucy Richer (Top of the Lake) for the BBC. A Very English Scandal is expected to debut in 2018 on BBC in the UK and will premiere in the U.S. on Amazon Prime Video.
