Marcelo Zarvos is composing the music for the upcoming drama The Best of Enemies. The film marks the directorial debut of executive producer Robin Bissell (The Hunger Games) and stars Sam Rockwell, Taraji P. Henson, Babou Ceesay, Nick Searcy, Anne Heche, Wes Bentley and John Gallagher Jr. The movie centers on civil rights activist Ann Atwater who battled KKK leader C.P. Ellis for a decade until 1971, when the two agreed to co-chair a two-week community meeting to deal with a court-ordered school desegregation decree. Bissell also wrote the screenplay based on Osha Gray Davidson’s book The Best of Enemies: Race and Redemption in the New South. He is also producing the project with Danny Strong (Empire, The Butler), Tobey Maguire (Seabiscuit), Matthew Plouffe (The 5th Wave), Fred Bernstein, Matt Berenson (Daddy Day Care, The Boy) and Dominique Telson producing. The Best of Enemies is expected to premiere in 2018.
Zarvos also has Stephen Chbosky’s Wonder and Nicole Holofcener’s The Land of Steady Habits coming up. The composer also continues to score Showtime’s Ray Donovan and The Affair.
