This past weekend, Marco Beltrami has recorded his score for the upcoming thriller The Snowman. The film is directed by Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and stars Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Val Kilmer and J.K. Simmons. The movie is based on Jo Nesbø’s global bestseller and follows an elite crime squad’s lead detective who investigates the disappearance of a victim on the first snow of winter and fears an elusive serial killer may be active again. Hossein Amini (Drive, Snow White and the Huntsman) and Peter Straughan (The Men Who Stare at Goats, Frank) wrote the screenplay. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (The Theory of Everything, Les Miserables) are producing the Working Title production with Piodor Gustafsson and Robyn Slovo (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Two Faces of January). Martin Scorsese serves as an executive producer on the project. Beltrami’s score was recorded at AIR Studios in London. The Snowman will be released in theaters nationwide on October 20, 2017 by Universal Pictures. Visit the official movie website for updates.
The composer’s upcoming projects also include the Russian drama Matilda, Angelina Jolie’s First They Killed My Father (set to premiere on September 15 on Netflix) and Eli Craig’s Little Evil (premiering on September 1 on Netflix). Beltrami (Logan, 3:10 to Yuma, Scream, World War Z, The Hurt Locker) also has the Spike TV event mini-series Waco coming up.
