Gary Yershon will be reteaming with Mike Leigh on the director’s upcoming drama Peterloo. The film is written and directed by Leigh (Secret & Lies, Vera Drake, Topsy-Turvy) and tells the story of the infamous 1819 massacre at a peaceful pro-democracy rally at St. Peter’s Field in Manchester, England, when many working people were injured and killed. Georgina Lowe is producing the Amazon Studios, Film4, the BFI and Lipsync production. Yershon has previously collaborated with Leigh on the director’s previous three features, Happy-Go-Lucky, Another Year and Mr. Turner, for which he received his first Academy Award nomination. Peterloo will start shooting this coming Monday in England. A release in 2018 is expected. (Variety)
