The French rock band Phoenix has composed the original music for Sofia Coppola’s upcoming thriller The Beguiled. The film is written and directed by Coppola (Lost in Translation, The Virgin Suicides, The Bling Ring, Marie Antoinette) and stars Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Oona Laurence, Angourie Rice, Emma Howard and Addison Riecke. The movie based on the novel by Thomas Cullinan is set during the Civil War at a Southern girls’ boarding school that has been sheltered from the outside world – until the day a wounded Union soldier is discovered nearby and taken in. Sofia & Roman Coppola are producing the project with Youree Henley. The director has previously used music by Phoenix in several of her previous films, including Lost in Translation and Somewhere. The thriller will premiere at this month’s Cannes Film Festival and will be released in theaters on June 23, 2017 by Focus Features. Visit the official movie website for updates.
