Jeff Russo has been hired to score the upcoming Netflix original series Altered Carbon. The show is created by Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island, Terminator Genysis) based on the novel of the same title by Richard K. Morgan and stars Joel Kinnaman, James Purefoy, Kristin Lehman, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Martha Higareda, Dichen Lachman, Leonardo Nam, Chris Conner, Ato Essandoh, Marlene Forte, Trieu Tran, Byron Mann and Tamara Taylor. The sci-fi drama is set in the 25th century when the human mind has been digitized and the soul is transferable from one body to the next. David Ellison & Dana Goldberg (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Marcy Ross are executive producing the Skydance Media production with Steve Blackman (Legion), as well as Kalogridis, Brad Fischer and James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, White House Down). Miguel Sapochnik (Repo Men, Game of Thrones) is directing the first episode. Russo has previously co-scored the second season of Skydance’s Manhattan.
Russo’s other upcoming projects include the features Lizzie, Three Christs and Submission. Among his current TV scoring projects are FX’s Fargo and Legion, ABC’s Time After Time, Starz’s Power and CBS’ Bull.
