Lin-Manuel Miranda has composed original songs for the upcoming animated feature Vivo. The film will be directed by Kirk De Micco (The Croods, Space Chimps) and is being written by Quiara Alegría Hudes, Miranda’s collaborator on the stage musical In The Heights. The movie, which is supposed to feature 11 new songs, tells the tale of an adventurous capuchin monkey with a passion for music that makes a treacherous passage from Havana to Miami to fulfill his destiny. Lisa Stewart (Monsters vs Aliens, Turbo) is producing the project. Miranda has previously composed the songs for Disney’s Moana, for which he recently received a Golden Globe nomination. Vivo is set to be released on December 18, 2020 by Sony Pictures. (Deadline)
Miranda’s upcoming projects also include Lionsgate’s film and TV adaptation of The Kingkiller Chronicle.
