A number of film composer will participate in Gold Derby’s first roundtable discussion event focussing on the music and sound of some of this year’s awards contenders in the respective categories. The Meet the Experts panel will be moderated by Tom O’Neill and will take place tomorrow, November 16 at Landmark Theaters in Los Angeles. Participating composers include Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech) who is promoting his work for Illumination Entertainment’s hit animated movie The Secret Life of Pets, Nicholas Britell (The Big Short, Free State of Jones) whose most recent score is for the indie hit drama Moonlight, Benjamin Wallfisch (Lights Out, The Escapist) who co-scored Ted Melfi’s upcoming Hidden Figures with Hans Zimmer & Pharrell Williams and Justin Hurwitz (Whiplash) who scored and wrote the songs for Damien Chazelle’s acclaimed movie musical La La Land.
