Walter Murphy has composed the music for the upcoming comedy The Late Bloomer. The film is directed by Kevin Pollak and stars Johnny Simmons, J.K. Simmons, Maria Bello, Brittany Snow, Jane Lynch, Kumail Nanjiani, Paul Wesley, Ken Marino, Beck Bennett, Illeana Douglas Blake Cooper, Charlotte McKinney, Vanessa Ragland and Lenora Crichlow. The movie is loosely based on Ken Baker’s 2001 memoir Man Made: A Memoir of My Body and follows a 30-year old man who – after the successful removal of a benign tumor resting against his pituitary gland – experiences all the changes and effects of puberty over a three-week period. Joe Nussbaum (Sidney White, Sleepover), Paul A. Kaplan & Mark Torgove (George Lopez) and Kyle Cooper & Austyn Jeffs have written the screenplay. Raphael Kryszek, Heidi Jo Markel (Lovelace, Playing for Keeps) and Jesse Israel are producing the project. The Late Bloomer will be released in select theaters and on VOD on October 7, 2016 by Momentum Pictures.
Murphy whose previous feature scoring credits include Seth MacFarlane’s Ted and Ted 2 also continues to score Fox’s Family Guy, which will return for a 15th season this fall.
