Atli Örvarsson has been hired to score the upcoming coming-of-age comedy drama The Edge of Seventeen. The film is written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig and stars Hailee Steinfeld, Woody Harrelson, Kyra Sedgwick, Haley Lu Richardson, Blake Jenner and Hayden Szeto. The movie follows an endearingly witty but self-absorbed teen whose life goes into a tailspin after her older brother starts dating her best friend. James L. Brooks (As Good as It Gets, Terms of Endearment), Richard Sakai (Jerry Maguire, The Simpsons Movie) and Julie Ansell (Spanglish, Riding in Cars with Boys) are producing the project. Örvarsson previously composed additional music for Brooks’ The Simpsons Movie, which featured a score by Hans Zimmer. The Edge of Seventeen will have its world premiere next month at the Toronto Film Festival and will be released nationwide on November 18, 2016 by STX Entertainment.
Örvarsson also has the animated features Ploey – You Never Fly Alone and Bilal coming up. He also continues to score NBC’s Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med.
