Johan Söderqvist is composing the music for the upcoming thriller The Limehouse Golem. The film is directed by Juan Carlos Medina (Painless) and stars Bill Nighy, Olivia Cooke, Douglas Booth, Daniel Mays, Sam Reid, Maria Valverde and Eddie Marsan. The movie based on the bestseller by Peter Ackroyd and is set in Victorian-era London and revolves around an intrepid police inspector who investigates a series of brutal killings that seem to be linked to a fearsome creature of Jewish legend. Jane Goldman (X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass, Stardust) has written the screenplay. Stephen Woolley (The Crying Game, Interview with the Vampire), Joanna Laurie (Hyena) and Elizabeth Karlsen (Carol, Made in Dagenheim) are producing the project. The Limehouse Golem will premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Söderqvist whose best known credits include the feature Let the Right One In, In a Better World, Kon-Tiki and After the Wedding also has the Norwegian World War II drama The King’s Choice (Kongens Nei) coming up. The film is directed by Erik Poppe and stars Jesper Christensen, Karl Markovics, Anders Baasmo Christiansen, Tuva Novotny, Katharina Schuettler and Juliane Koehler. The movie depicts the German attack on neutral Norway over three decisive days in April 1940. The drama will premiere later this year in Norway.
