Christopher Lennertz is officially set to compose the original score for the upcoming action comedy Baywatch. The film is directed by Seth Gordon (The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, Four Christmases) and stars Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, Jon Bass, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. The movie is based on the hit TV series, which premiered in 1989 and follows two unlikely prospective lifeguards who vie for jobs alongside the buff bodies who patrol a beach in California. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (Freddy vs. Jason) have written the final version of the screenplay. Johnson is also producing the project with Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn (San Andreas, Hercules), Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters, Up in the Air), Michael Berk & Douglas Schwartz (Soul Surfer) and Greg Bonann. Lennertz has previously scored Gordon’s two latest features, Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief. Baywatch is set to be released on May 19, 2017 by Paramount Pictures.
Lennertz’s most recent project, Bad Moms starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell & Kathryn Hahn is opening nationwide this weekend. The composer has also scored the animated feature Sausage Party, which will be released on August 12.
