WaterTower Music will release a score album for the superhero movie Suicide Squad. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composer Steven Price (Gravity, The World’s End, Attack the Block, Fury, The Hunt). The soundtrack will be released on August 8, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Sony Classical is handling distribution of the album overseas and will release a physical version on August 12. Suicide Squad is directed by David Ayer and stars Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach and Viola Davis. The movie is based on the DC Comics property and centers on a secret government agency recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency. I really hope it’ll be another great score from Steven Price! Also hope the score is front and center in the movie, and not used as filler between the songs.
…I hope so too, and I also hope that unlike Marvel, DC movies will have a sense of continuity and cohesiveness musically speaking, so at the very least, Batman’s new theme should be featured in this movie
As an admirer of Zimmer I hope that atrocious theme never makes another appearance again.
I highly doubt that, Price is not associated with Zimmer and he’ll probably want to do his own thing, so, I can’t imagine he quoting any themes from BvS.
And, if DCEU follows the same pattern of the MCU, we’ll have each movie scored by a different composer, with little to nothing to tie those scores together.
Zimmer is out and old! Price is a new hope of synth film music.
