Rob Simonsen has composed the music for the upcoming drama Gifted. The film is directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) and stars Chris Evans, Lindsay Duncan, Jenny Slate, Octavia Spencer and Mckenna Grace. The movie follows a single man raising his child prodigy niece, when the seven-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of his formidable mother. Tom Flynn has written the screenplay. Karen Lunder (Arrival, Premature) and Andy Cohen (Untracable) are producing the project. Simonsen has previously co-scored Webb’s directorial debut (500) Days of Summer with Mychael Danna. Gifted will be released on April 12, 2017 by Fox Searchlight.
Simonsen also has the thriller Nerve starring Emma Roberts & Dave Franco, as well as the horror thriller Viral coming up. Both movies will be released on July 29, 2016. The composer also scored the caper comedy Going in Style directed by Zach Braff and starring Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine & Alan Arkin. The film is set for a release on April 7, 2017.
