Varese Sarabande has announced the latest titles in its CD Club series, including a deluxe edition soundtrack for Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 sci-fi movie Starship Troopers starring Casper Van Dien, Dina Meyer, Denise Richards, Jake Busey, Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Muldoon, Clancy Brown and Michael Ironside. The album features the expanded original score from the Touchstone Pictures production composed and conducted by Basil Poledouris (Conan the Barabarian, RoboCop, The Hunt for Red October, Free Willy), including roughly an hour of previously unreleased music and unused cues. Also included are two songs performed by the composer’s daughter Zoe Poledouris as featured in the movie. The 2-CD set, which is limited to 3000 copies, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio samples and check out the full album details.
The label has also announced a deluxe edition soundtrack for the 1997 disaster thriller Volcano directed by Mick Jackson and starring Tommy Lee Jones, Anne Heche, Gaby Hoffmann, Don Cheadle, Jacqueline Kim and Keith David. The album features the expanded score from the 20th Century Fox production composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers, The Croods, Romancing the Stone), including more than half an hour of previously unreleased music. The label’s other new releases include a new soundtrack edition for the 1990 romantic comedy Joe Versus the Volcano starring Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan.
