fantastic-beasts-and-where-to-find-themJames Newton Howard has been tapped to score the upcoming fantasy adventure Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Oh fuck it!

  2. BB says:

    Hallelujah!

  3. Ds says:

    Great!

  4. Macejko says:

Pretty cool! I was afraid that it’ll go to Mehsplat again.

    • Declan says:

Um, you are aware his scores for Harry Potter are commonly considered some of the best film scores around. You haven’t listened to Courtyard Apocalypse, Lily’s Theme, Severus and Lily, or Dobby’s Farewell? Idiot.

      • Ds says:

Some of his HP7 tracks are pretty cool, but call them “some of the best film scores”? Nope. You’re the first one Ihear claiming such a thing.

Desplat is usually pretty good, but JNH is superior, by far.

        • Declan says:

Desplat has far more artistry and creativity to his scores. Deathly Hallows Part 2 was a FAR better score than anything JNH wrote for the Mockingjay films. And they were Grammy nominated.

They’re considered some of the best scores of the franchise.

Let’s hope Imogen Heap does something special for Cursed Child: Parts 1 and 2.

          • Macejko says:

I like DH Part 2, but the best Potter score by far is Patrick Doyle’s Goblet of Fire.
And don’t call me idiot, jizzrag.

          • Linkword says:

            Shut up, you international troll!

          • Macejko says:

Oh, you are still alive, that’s a shame…

          • Linkword says:

            colossal moron attack again…

  5. angeldelmito says:

I love it!! Hopefully it’s similar to his work on the Hunger Games! Those scores were beautiful.

  6. Brian says:

I wish Joe Kraemer was scoring this.

  7. Justin Boggan says:

Desplat? By who? Williams is the one with the famous Potter scores. I’ve yet to see this Desplat thing you refer to. He’s wildly considered above Hooper in the efforts and only praised by most of the Desplay fans.

    • Declan says:

And John Williams scores are no longer totally compatible with the franchise. They were fine for the first couple films. Not for the rest of the series, where darker and grittier was the name of the game. People don’t seem to like that.

      • Declan says:

        *tonally

      • Ds says:

Noone said that John Williams would have written the same music for the next episodes!! If he’d been given the task he would’ve been perfectly capable of adapting his music to the darker tone of the movies.

      • Justin Boggan says:

Williams has a wide array of efforts going back several decades. We CAN’T know if he’s no longer compatable. We can know, however, he’s more than seasoned and capable of trying. What’s holding him back is other director’s bringing in their composer of choice and oaccassionally the rare few projects he takes on, that conflict with new Potter films.

  8. Tvr says:

Guys, let’s be realistic, Desplat will probably be busy scoring Rogue One, so it would be pretty dificult for him to do this movie as well. I Washington afraid that Yates would bring Hooper back, but thankfully he d

    • Tvr says:

*I was afraid that Yates would bring Hooper back, but thankfully he didn’t do it. Anyway, I love JNH, and I’m sure he will do a wonderful job on this film.

  9. Bernd-Helmut Heine says:

Well, I´m fine with JNH. He´s usually great with fantasy movies…
