Composer Michael Giacchino was honored with an Annie Award in the Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production category for the music from Pixar’s hit movie Inside Out. The composer accepted his award in person at the awards ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall. The other contenders in the category were Carter Burwell for Anomalisa, Kevin Riepl for Batman Unlimited: Monster Mayhem, Ruben Feffer, Gustavo Kurlat, GEM Grupo Experimental de Música & Emicida for Boy and the World and Mychael & Jeff Danna for Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur. Giacchino has previously won three Annie Awards for Pixar’s The Incredibles, Ratatouille, as well as the Disney TV special Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice. Composer and previous Annie Award winner Christophe Beck (Frozen, The Peanuts Movie) and actress Kristen Schaal presented the awards in the music category.
In the Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production category, Christopher Willis was honored with his third Annie Award for Disney Television Animation’s Disney Mickey Mouse. The composer also accepted his award in person at the event.
