Jeff Russo is set to score the upcoming HBO original miniseries Crime. The show is written by Richard Price (Ransom, Shaft, Sea of Love) based on the British TV series Criminal Justice and stars John Turturro, Riz Ahmed, Michael Kenneth Williams, Amara Karan, Jeannie Berlin, Glenne Headly, Bill Camp, Payman Moaadi and Poorna Jagannathan. The show follows an ambulance-chasing New York City attorney who gets in over his head when he takes on the case of a Pakistani man accused of murdering a girl on the Upper West Side. Steve Zaillian (Schindler’s List, Moneyball, Searching for Bobby Fischer) is executive producing the project with Price, Criminal Justice creator Peter Moffat and Jane Tranter (Rome, DaVinci’s Demons). Crime is expected to premiere later this year on HBO.
Russo’s whose recent other projects also include the second seasons of FX’s Fargo, CBS’ CSI: Cyber, WGN America’s Manhattan, as well as NBC’s Shades of Blue also has the indie drama Behold My Heart coming up. The film is directed by Joshua Leonard (The Lie) and stars Marisa Tomei, Timothy Olyphant, Charlie Plummer and Mireille Enos. The movie follows a woman and her teenage son in the aftermath of a tragedy who must forge into uncharted territory in order to move on with their lives. Tomei is also producing the project with Mary Pat Bentel (Goodbye World, Animals), David Hansen (Lovesong), Marcus Cox & Karrie Cox (Tangerine, Adult Beginners). The drama is expected to premiere later this year.
