Brad Bird announced today on Twitter that Michael Giacchino has signed on to compose the music for Pixar’s upcoming sequel The Incredibles 2. The composer was previously attached and expected to score the film given his involvement in the original movie, as well as Bird’s other last three features, Ratatouille, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland. No plot details and casting announcements have been made yet for the sequel. The project will mark Giacchino’s sixth project for Pixar Animation Studios. In addition to his two movies with Bird, he also scored Up, Cars 2 and Inside Out for the studio. The Incredibles 2 is set to be released on June 21, 2019 by Walt Disney Pictures.
Giacchino’s upcoming projects also include Disney’s Zootopia, which he recently recorded at the Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros. in Burbank, CA. He also has the sequels Star Trek Beyond and War for the Planet of the Apes coming up.
Hooray, only 3 and a half years to go! My expectations for this score are perhaps too high. Then again, Giacchino should have enough time to come up with some great ideas.
the work of Gordon Goodwin for the 1st soundtrack was amazing, hope he will be present on the 2nd.
If it’s not the case, the music will be very bad compare to the 1st…
