Mark Mothersbaugh has recently composed the score for the upcoming sequel Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip. The film is directed by Walt Becker (Wild Hogs, Old Dogs) and stars Jason Lee, Tony Hale, Kimberly Williamss-Paisley, Josh Green, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Anna Faris and Christina Applegate. The family movie follows Alvin, Simon and Theodore as they try to stop Dave from proposing to his new girlfriend in Miami. Randi Mayem Singer (Mrs. Doubtfire, Tooth Fairy) has written the screenplay. Ross Bagdasarian and Janice Karman are producing the project. A soundtrack album featuring the movie’s songs will be released on December 11 by Republic Records and is available for pre-order here. Mothersbaugh has previously scored the third part in the series, Chipwrecked, while Christopher Lennertz and David Newman composed the music for the first two installments. Mothersbaugh also has the Netflix movie Pee-wee’s Big Holiday coming up. The composer also continues to score the second season of Fox’s The Last Man on Earth, which airs every Sunday night on Fox.
