Danny Elfman revealed in an interview with L.A. Weekly that he is working on David O. Russell’s upcoming drama Joy. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Diane Ladd, Virginia Madsen, Isabella Rossellini and Elisabeth Röhm. The movie tells the true story of a struggling Long Island single mom who became one of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs after inventing the Miracle Mop. Russell has written the screenplay based on a story by himself and Annie Mumolo (Bridesmaids). He is also producing the project with John Davis (Predator, I, Robot, The Blacklist), Jonathan Gordon (Silver Linings Playbook), Megan Ellison (Zero Dark Thirty, Her, Foxcatcher) and Ken Mok (Invincible). Elfman has previously collaborated with Russell on his last two features, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. Joy is set to be released nationwide on December 25, 2015 by 20th Century Fox.
