WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the crime drama Black Mass. The album features the film’s original music composed by Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL (Mad Max: Fury Road, Divergent, 300: Rise of an Empire, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). The soundtrack will be released on September 11, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Black Mass is directed by Scott Cooper (Ouf of the Furnace, Crazy Heart) and stars Johnny Depp, Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, Dakota Johnson, Jesse Plemons, Corey Stoll, Rory Cochrane, Sienna Miller and Adam Scott. The movie tells the true story of Whitey Bulger, the most infamous violent criminal in the history of South Boston, who became an FBI informant to take down a Mafia family invading his turf. The drama will premiere next month at the Toronto Film Festival and will be released nationwide on September 18, 2015 by Warner Bros. Pictures. Visit the official movie website for more information.

That’s a great idea. You know? Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL is scoring Scott Cooper’s crime drama “Black Mass”, starring Johnny Depp as Boston crime lord Whitey Bulger.
Basically, I love composers Randy Newman, Howard Shore, Trevor Jones, Alan Silvestri, James Newton Howard, Danny Elfman, David Newman, Elliot Goldenthal, Thomas Newman, Hans Zimmer, Marc Shaiman, Rachel Portman, Alexandre Desplat, Harry Gregson-Williams, Terence Blanchard, Michael Giacchino and Deborah Lurie. I love amazing film composers.
What’s exactly a good idea about this hack scoring anything?
Wow. No need to be rude. Sure, he may not be “great,” but he’s not terrible either. Some of his scores are mindless noise, but some are good (i.e. Divergent).
