Harry Escott is composing the music for the upcoming BBC original series River. The show is written and created by Abi Morgan (The Iron Lady, Shame, The Invisible Woman) and stars Stellan Skarsgård, Nicola Walker, Adeel Akhtar, Lesley Manville, Eddie Marsan, Sorcha Cusack and Georgina Rich. The drama follows a brilliant police officer whose genius and fault-line is the fragility of his mind – a man haunted by the murder victims whose cases he must lay to rest. Morgan is also executive producing the project with Jane Featherstone (Broadchurch, Life on Mars), Manda Levin and Lucy Richer (Top of the Lake, The Hour). River is expected to premiere later this year on BBC.
Escott has also recently scored the French drama Tout, Tout de Suite directed by Richard Berry. The movie, which centers on the kidnapping and torture of Ilan Halimi by the “gang des barbares” in 2006, is expected to premiere later this year. The composer of such films as Shame, Hard Candy, Welcome to the Punch and A Mighty Heart has also composed the music for Michael Winterbottom’s The Face of an Angel starring Kate Beckinsale & Daniel Bruhl, which premiered overseas earlier this year and will open in the U.S. on June 19.
