Gabriel Yared has been hired to score the upcoming romantic drama By the Sea. The film marks the third directorial feature of Angelina Jolie who also stars in the movie alongside Brad Pitt, Mélanie Laurent, Niels Arestrup, Melvil Poupaud and Richard Bohringer. The drama follows an American writer who arrives with his wife a tranquil and picturesque seaside resort in 1970s France with their marriage in apparent crisis. Jolie also wrote the screenplay and is producing the project with Pitt. Chris Brigham, Holly Goline and Michael Vieira are executive producing. Yared has previously scored Jolie’s first feature In the Land of Blood and Honey), while Alexandre Desplat scored her second film Unbroken, which was released last year. By the Sea will be released on November 13, 2015 by Universal Pictures.

Yared whose previous scoring credits include The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain and 1408 also has the animated feature Kahil Gibran’s The Prophet produced by Salma Hayek coming up. The movie premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in the U.S. on August 7, 2015 by GKIDS.
