Howard Shore is set to score Disney’s upcoming remake of Pete’s Dragon. The film is directed by David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints) and stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford. The movie is based on the 1977 classic and tells the story of the special bond between an orphaned boy, Pete, and his best friend, Elliott, who just happens to be a dragon. Lowery also co-wrote the screenplay with Toby Halbrooks. Jim Whitaker (The Odd Life of Timothy Green, The Finest Hours) is producing the project and Barrie Osborne (The Lord of the Rings, Face/Off) serves as an executive producer. The Peter Jackson-founded company WETA Digital is providing the special effects for the movie, which is being shot in New Zealand. Pete’s Dragon is set to be released on August 12, 2016 by Walt Disney Pictures.
As previously reported, Shore also has Thomas McCarthy’s drama Spotlight starring Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams & Stanley Tucci coming up.
Is it weird that I’m now kinda looking forward to the movie because of this?
Everything about this movie makes me excited except for the property. It could be almost anything and I would be pumped.
