Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice have written the original song Cold One for Jonathan Demme’s comedy drama Ricki and the Flash. The song is performed by Meryl Streep who stars in the film alongside Kevin Kline, Mammie Gummer, Audra McDonald, Sebastian Stan and Rick Springfield. The movie directed by Demme (The Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia) and scripted by Diablo Cody (Juno, Young Adult) follows a guitar heroine who made a world of mistakes as she followed her dreams of rock-and-roll stardom and gets a shot at redemption and a chance to make things right as she faces the music with her family. Marc Platt (Drive, Wanted, Legally Blonde, Mason Novick (Juno, Bad Words, (500) Days of Summer), Gary Goetzman (Mamma Mia!, Charlie Wilson’s War) and Cody are producing the TriStar production. Lewis and Rice have previously composed original songs for the indie drama Song One starring Anne Hathaway, which was released earlier this year. Ricki and the Flash is set to be released on August 7, 2015. For more information about the film, visit the official movie website.
