As in previous years, the World Soundtrack Academy will give out the SABAM Award for Best Young International Composer to young international film music talent during this year’s World Soundtrack Awards (WSA) during the 42nd Film Fest Gent in Belgium. Three finalists will be invited for a three-day visit in Ghent where they will have their compositions performed by the Brussels Philharmonic and conducted by Dirk Brossé during the 15th World Soundtrack Awards, which takes place on October 25, 2015 and will also honor composers Alan Silvestri and Daniel Pemberton. They will also have the opportunity to meet with film music professionals and compete for a €2,500 prize. Composers will be asked to compose music for an excerpt out of Carol Reed’s The Third Man with reference to the film festival’s focus on British Cinema this year. Registrations are now being accepted via this link until July 10, 2015 and the composition must be submitted by August 10.
