It was announced today that James Newton Howard is the recipient of this year’s Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award, which will be presented at the annual Hollywood in Vienna Concert Gala at Vienna Concert Hall on October 16, 2015 The Max Steiner Award honors extraordinary achievements within the genre of film music by the musical capital of Austria, Vienna. Previous recipients of the honor include James Horner, Alan Silvestri, Howard Shore, Randy Newman, Lalo Schifrin and John Barry. Howard has written numerous scores for films such as The Sixth Sense, Signs, King Kong, Maleficent, Pretty Woman, Waterworld, The Prince of Tides, The Village, The Fugitive, Dinosaur, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Hunger Games series. He received eighth Academy Award nominations throughout his career and was awarded with a Grammy and Emmy Award.
