Marcelo Zarvos is reuniting with director Ross Katz on the upcoming romantic drama The Choice. The film based on the novel of the same title by Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, Dear John, Message in a Bottle) stars Benjamin Walker, Teresa Palmer, Tom Welling, Alexandra Daddario, Maggie Grace and Tom Wilkinson. The movie is set in a small coastal town where a young man ends up pursuing a relationship with his new neighbor, leading to a journey that neither could have foreseen. Bryan Sipe (Demolition) has written the screenplay. Sparks is also producing the project with Theresa Park (The Best of Me, The Longest Ride) and Peter Safran (The Conjuring, Annabelle, Buried). Zarvos has previously composed the music for Katz’s first two directorial efforts, including HBO’s Taking Chances and Adult Beginners, which premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released later this year by Radius-TWC. The Choice is expected to be released later this year or in early 2016 by Lionsgate.
Zarvos’ whose previous scoring credits include such features as The Good Shepherd, Enough Said, Remember Me and the TV shows Ray Donovan, The Affair, The Big C and Extant also has the horror thriller Cell based on Stephen King’s novel coming up. Clarius Entertainment has recently acquired domestic distribution rights for the film and is planning later this year.
