Premiering tonight in the U.S. on PBS is the British drama Grantchester created by Daisy Coulam and stars James Norton, Robson Green, Morven Christie, Tessa Peake-Jones, Al Weaver and Pheline Roggan. The show’s original music is composed by John Lunn (Downton Abbey, The White Queen). Silva Screen Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score from the show, as well as songs by Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet and Gloria Dee overseas last month. The album will be released digitally on January 20 stateside. Premiering on Thursday, January 15, is the new Fox drama Backstrom created by Hart Hanson and starring Rainn Wilson, Dennis Haysbert, Thomas Dekker, Kristoffer Polaha, Genevieve Angelson, Page Kennedy and Beatrice Rosen.. Sean Callery (24, Homeland, Medium) who is also scoring the Hanson-created/produced Fox series Bones is composing the show’s original music. Backstrom is based on the Swedish book series by criminologist Leif G.W. Persson and follows on an overweight, offensive, irascible detective as he tries, and fails, to change his self-destructive behavior. The drama will air every Thursday night on Fox. The song is composed by the show’s coimposer and scorer, the ‘band’ is the orchestra assembled during session recordings for the show episodes. It isnt a band. per se.
