Michael Brook is composing the music for the upcoming romance Brooklyn. The film is directed by John Crowley (Boy A, Intermission, Closed Circuit) and stars Saoirse Ronan, Domhnall Gleeson, Emory Cohen, Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent. The movie is based on the novel by Colm Toibin and follows a young Irish immigrant who is navigating her way through 1950s Brooklyn and must confront a terrible dilemma — a heartbreaking choice between two men and two countries, between duty and true love. Nick Hornby (About a Boy, High Fidelity) has written the screenplay. Finola Dwyer (Quartet, Severance) and Amanda Posey (An Education, Fever Pitch) are producing the project. Brooklyn is set to premiere next month at the Sundance Film Festival.
Brook whose previous film scoring credits include Into the Wild, The Fighter, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Vow also has the indie drama Aloft starring Jennifer Connelly & Cillian Murphy coming up. The movie premiered at last year’s Berlin Film Festival and will be released in 2015 by Sony Pictures Classics.
